  1. FFS got to do this now dropped plastic pipe in manifold and cant get it out
  2. Hi guys, well some bad luck. While tinkering with my 2005 1.9jtdm sport, I spraying my map sensor with carb cleaner I decided to give the manifold a spray down the little hole the map sensor sits in................ the plastic end has come off and gone down into hole Took the turbo pipe and throttle body off and can't be seen. So I really need some help, the manifold needs to be removed, plastic bit taken out and refitted. So any one out there handy with a spanner wants to earn £100 cash?, for a morning work? I can supply good company, lol! unlimited tea coffee beers and even treat you to a chip shop lunch. It will have to been done on my drive as i won't be turning the key incase it wrecks the engine. I live at de143dt burton upon trent. Thanks Jon
  3. despite putting my car on ebay and listing its fault (no low rev power) the buyer after winning the auction offered me pennys for her so i refused and im oing to keep her. just phoned up garage £400 to remove and clean the manifold....WTF! going to have to tackle this myself
  4. replace the 60amp midi fuse, cleared code and woohoo sorted :-) thanks guys
  5. darn cambelt has not long been done, I just wanted to give it a clean after i did the egr valve, its not a problem i have put everything back together, i was giving it a good clean before the new owner collects her on wednesday.
  6. no worries k9d i appreciate the input hi smarky, the battery light is on so assuming the alternator is knackard as the car has been sat for nearly 2yrs crap i was hoping the brake lines would be ok lol! didnt realise how hard the cambelt is a on v6, a few years ago with the help of my dad we did a ts and was quite simple but reading the guide i can see why its a specialist job.
  7. go wednesday off so will have a look once the fuses arrive the codes on multiecuscan show this fault Main Relay or the associated circuitry has a defect. This relay is usually part of the hydraulic assembly and supplies the power to the solenoid valves and acts as a safety device. Check: - permanent (+ 30) and Key-On power supplies and ground circuits for opens, shorts or weak connections - the relay coils and the relay for proper functioning. The fault is present now. Take appropriate action to fix this sensor fault. Dashboard warning light was activated for this fault.
  8. Thanks for the advise guys just read a cambelt guide for the 3.0v6 and it looks very complicated, I think specialist it is
  9. You wouldn't? It will cost me the same as I will have to buy the cambelt kit and water pump but I will get all the extra jobs done. This is my project http://www.squadra916.com/forums/topic/3595-alfa-gtv-v6-project-black-edition/
  10. Hi guys, I rescued a gtv v6 from the scrapers last year as I have always wanted to drive a busso (still haven't) anyway I have done a bit of work on her like sorted the reason she was being scrapped the gears wouldn't go in and turned out to be gear housing. I have done all the basic jobs but The problem I have is time and money lol! I sold one off my other projects so have put together a list and My v6 needs, 1) cambelt water pump and alternator (I have alternator already) 2) brakes are poor, needs compensator replacing (I have one) plus a right brembo rembuilding (quoted £100) and and brakes/system bleeding as when old compensator exploded lol! Emptied out all brake fluid. I'm hoping the pipes don't need doing on top of the compensator. 3) exhaust down pipe and rear section (I have down pipe and quads to go on) 4) rear doglegs fitted (I have complete ones ready to go on and powerflex) So with this list do I need to take it into a specialist or can I use a mobile mechanic? Option 1) specialist So with time tight I got a quote for alfa specialist and they would do cambelt kit water pump and fit my alternator for £550 leaving me with the other jobs todo over the summer/this year only problem she won't be ready until next year. Option 2) mobile machanic My friend uses a mobile mechanic who would charge £250 for a full days labour but he's not keyed up to alfas but knows how to do belts, he thinks he can do all the jobs in a day so I would just have to supply parts. I'm thinking maybe a bit ambitious?? I of course I'm liking option two but with him not knowing alfas is it a bit risky It's the Cambelt I'm most worried about, does he need any special tools? Is it realistic for a mechanic to get all that done in a day (I can do basic stuff but I'm a slow worker it would take me a lot longer and I wouldn't have a clue how to do belts. So what do you think go for it!! Or have a bit of patience and get it do by specialist. It's doing my head in one week I think one the next another, ahhhh I get my funds through Wednesday so need to make a decision. What would you do?? Any advise much appreciated :-)
  11. Hi guys, does anyone know if there is a guide for removing and cleaning or replacing the manifold on the 1.9 jtdm. I have removed upper turbo hose, throttle body and egr valve but not sure what's next. Any tips, advise or guides would be great, many thanks Jon
  12. Mmm all fuses look good I'm wondering if the car needs to be driven to tell computer abs is fine over a period/distance. I have ordered some midi fuses so hopefully they will turn up early next week.
  13. Great thanks for your help been to a load of high street retailer like halfords for a midi fuse but no one seems to sell them. I will check the wire as well, many thanks
  14. Hi guys i changed the battery on my 156 jtd and now have a fault flashing up vdc system failure. I have doubled check and the new battery is fully charged and the terminals are on nice and tight. not a problem i thought just clear the code and sorted, hooked up to multiecuscan read the code C1276, cleared it and turned her off, back on code appears again. tried it a few times but the vdc lights keep flashing up...hayho! So i read read he code again and it means this................. Main Relay or the associated circuitry has a defect. Dashboard warning light was activated for this fault. any advice guys not sure what i should check next. thanks Jon
