  1. As above really, if I'm in third gear making a left turn, it pops out of gear. Otherwise its fine. Any ideas?
  2. Cheers smaky, I've had a look today to get the code number from the top. it is *46813473*, i have seen one on ebay with the exact same code but its from a 5dr (mines a 3dr). Will this Airbag Sensor work in mine?
  3. ooh thats something I never thought of. Would it not be invalid anyway since it doesn't work?
  4. Just had my car on a diagnostic machine and it would seem my airbag is fried as it would not respond to it at all. Is there any harm in me removing the Airbag ECU/Crash Sensor so I can get the codes off it and driving the car without it installed?
  5. Just an update Smaky, I ended up getting on the job training on how to fit a drive shaft with my local alfa mechanic and all is well. On a side note, I thought the 3rd gear sychro was on its way out in my car for the past 18months as it crunches and jumped out of gear, since the replacement driveshaft my gearbox has been good as gold! Thanks for all the advice!
  6. My drivers side electric window control likes to make clicking noises sometimes and it will lower my passenger side window down at random. To stop this I just pulled the connectors out of the passenger side window until I could be bothered to find the fault. Now after ages of scratching my head as my battery kept dying if the car wasn't driven daily I found the drawn to be coming from the drivers side electric window controls. Now I've pulled the controls out and I don't have a problem with the battery dying but I would prefer to get my windows working again. Is this a common fault? If not where is the best place to start look for the actual cause of the fault? Thanks as ever!
  7. As above, will need shipped to NI.
  8. cheers as ever smaky! Checked both drivers and passengers side. The drivers side literally rattles in my hand so I assume that is the culprit. I checked the flange bolts and they are in tight so its new driveshaft time. Can the driveshaft of any year 1.6 twinspark 147 fit it?
  9. After much head scratching as I'm not very mechanically minded, I have came to the conclusion I may have a damaged drivers side driveshaft. How can my physically check that this is the case? what am I actually looking for?
  10. Smaky, I had the front end up on axle stands earlier and whilst checking the front wheels, I noticed that if I span the wheels forwards the engine jolted a little forward and the same when I span the wheels backwards. Should there be any movement there? or is my engine mounts knackered?
  11. cheers Smaky will check all the above!
  12. Another month another mystery. When accelerating my car is randomly making a knocking noise from the front. It doesn't do it all the time but when it does occur it is just when accelerating. I'm pretty sure its nothing to do with the rotation of the wheels as I've tested that theory by accelerating hardish then dipping the clutch and the sound goes away. So really all I can tell you is that it seems to only happen when the engine is under load, the knocking itself sounds more like a plastic knocking than metallic. Any ideas?
  13. thought that myself, so i tested it on a brand new AAA battery and its reading was on the button.
