Fabricating Titanium Drive Shafts (3.2 V6 Busso)

Recommended Posts

Ok, this is up for some ideas among other things.

Buddy of mine found a Titanium works plant who can fabricate titanium drive shafts for us.

I've given them a sample to work on.

NOW WHY WOULD I WANT TO DO THIS??

Ok, its lighter and stronger and more resistant to wear and tear.

Given that the GTA is a very torquey car, and more so that I've modified it with 330NM of torque now, it will eat up drive shafts if we drove it like we stole it more often than not.

Am thinking, what would it benefit the Alfa community if I go out and get it done

and also to get Titanium Bolts too as it might be the next thing that shears itself off if it does handle that torque too well

.

Thing is, we've got a local chap with a 2000 GTJunior with just about Titanium anything. include drive shafts (its RWD so its a bit different)

His car is light and beats the hell out of many other modern cars with its better power to weight ratio and amazing handling.

in the works too are front and rear top strut mounts

and

manifolds with slightly longer primaries, and mid pipes (equal length)

Sounds like a Mad idea though.... and I'm sure other parts will start to break once a stronger one is in its place....

The GTJr had bolts sheared off and had to get them made in Titanium..... ......

Sounds like a good idea, can imagine it being fairly expensive but who cares :hubba:

Thought you had a GT. Why are you getting GTA ones made.
